Of the 1,421 patients in this study, 979 were adolescents with an average age of 15 years and 442 were adults with an average age of almost 25 years . As evident in Table 1, most patients had received prior treatment, with over 80% of adults and almost 90% of adolescents having received prior outpatient treatment and almost half of all adolescents and adults having been hospitalized prior to Center For Discovery. Fewer patients, especially adolescent patients, had received prior treatment on the middle of the continuum of care . In total, 96.9% of the patients had at least one form of prior treatment.

What Can I Expect In Residential Treatment
Clients in residential care will have a weekly schedule of established wake up times, bedtimes, chores and mealtimes to maintain a sense of responsibility and to provide a regular daily routine.
Psychotherapy is offered in a wide variety of therapy approaches. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing , yoga, nutrition education, positive coping mechanisms, relapse prevention skills and general life skills are all part of the intense program and are usually offered on a daily or weekly basis, depending on the specific treatment center. On average an individual will partake in five to six hours of therapy each day. Recovery is hard work and we ensure that clients have adequate down time to relax and reflect.
A block of time can be designated to attend group outings as well as fitness and recreational activities or spiritual enrichment opportunities, such as church or prayer.

The 24-bed licensed inpatient facility offers treatment for teens ages, 10 – 17
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 5, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Discovery Behavioral Health, Inc., an expanding network of evidence-based mental health, substance use and eating disorder treatment centers, has opened an eating disorder treatment program in Mesa, Arizona, where it is licensed as an inpatient treatment center. Center for Discovery, a 12,054 square foot state-of-the-art facility allows for the treatment of more psychiatrically and medically complex patients. The facility is now accepting patients ages 10 17 from anywhere in the US and offers concierge services to coordinate travel and lodging.
Eating disorders are one of the most misunderstood diseases, and attack the very core of a patient’s identity.
Sherri Hicks, LCSW, has been appointed Clinical Director of the program. Hicks is the author of “Emily’s Guide to Eating Disorders” and has dedicated much of her career to the treatment of eating disorders. As well, psychiatrist Elizabeth Bochtler, M.D. will serve as full time medical director.
